The moment one craves for Recognition, his split starts and courts trouble.  As Lord Krsna in Gita says, your duty is only to do your duty, sincerely at that and not hankering after the fruit of your labour. This in Samskrut is Nishkamya निष्काम्य karma.

The moment we recite, the relevant sloga, 

कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन ।
मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥

Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana |
Ma karma-phala-hetur bhur ma te sango ’stvakarmani ||

- verse 47, Chapter 2, सांख्य योग, Sankhya Yoga, the next question that raises its head, if not for anything in return, why do we have to toil and shed sweat.

Yes,

Every species, creature has gut, it has hunger, has to feed itself.  True.  But the beauty is no true and sincere effort in the spirit of  Lord's service go unrewarded.   But the reward should not blind the process of doing lest the work go haywire.   

May the work be wholesome and holistic.
